Yarn Selection & Pattern Views

Choose a DK weight yarn that achieves gauge. I have selected two very different wool-based yarns to show this pattern. 

One is a woolen spun yarn, for the longer, A-line shaped version, and one is a worsted spun 90% Merino, 10% silk with more bounce and a different drape for the cropped version.

Features a cropped body and no body shaping. Hem lands between waist and high hip.

Sizes A (B, C, D) (E, F, G) (H, I, J) to fit upper bust measurements of 31 (34.25, 37.5, 40.75) (44, 47.25, 50.5) (53.75, 57, 60.25)” / 78.5 (87, 95.5, 103.5) (112, 120, 128.5) (136.5, 145, 153) cm.

Select a size based on the upper bust measurement, but it is also graded for full bust measurements of 30 (34, 38, 42) (46, 50, 54) (58, 62, 66)” / 76 (86.5, 96.5, 106.5) (117, 127, 137) (147.5, 157.5, 167.5) cm.

The garment measures 32.25 (36.25, 40.25, 44.25) (48.25, 52.25, 55.75) (60.25, 64.25, 68.25)” / 80.5 (90.5, 100.5, 110) (120.5, 130.5, 140.5) (150.5, 160.5, 170.5) cm at full bust. 

The front of the garment measures 0.25 (0.25, 1.25, 2.25) (2.25, 3.25, 3.75) (5.25, 5.25, 6.25)” / 0.5 (1.5, 2.5, 5) (5.5, 8.5, 9.5) (12.5, 13.5, 15.5) cm wider than the back.

Optional bust darts are available, but may require additional yarn and buttons to complete. See “Bust Darts (Appendix)” on page 10 for more information. 

The designer is wearing Size B Cropped (the purple-gray sample) for 2.25" / 6 cm positiveease, and Size C full length (the white sample) for 6.25" / 16 cm positive ease.

She has the following circumference body measurements: 32” / 82 cm upper bust, 34” / 86.5 full bust, and 10.75” / 27.5 cm upper arm.

Gauge

22 sts x 28 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 cm knit flat in Stockinette stitch with needle A and 2x2 rib with Needle B

Needles

A (Main Fabric): US 6 / 4.0 mm circular needles in 32” / 80 cm length or longer for larger sizes to match body length. 

B (Ribbing): US 5 / 3.75 mm circular needles in 32” / 80 cm or above, plus needles for working small circumferences in the round (ie. magic loop or DPN’s)

Spare needles in any size US7 or smaller.
