This is a holiday gift guide for those looking Holiday gift guide for those looking to buy a luxury gift for their favorite knitter, crocheter, or fiber artist.
If you have a little bit more change to spare or splurge...this is the gift guide for you.
We've included 6 amazing options (all mostly tried and loved by members of the ASM team) from both our yarn shop and around the fiber space.
The super-luxe: $200+ items
Electric spinning wheel
If you are a beginner spinner but are looking for a ergonomic, travel size, or small space friendly wheel, look no further than the Daedalus Sparrow. This is their entry-level spinning wheel and made with carbon fiber and 3D printed plastic and costs about $740 if you include the required accessories.
These wheels are high in demand from Daedalus, so be sure to sign up for their mailing list to be notified about their next drop. Aimee was fortunate enough to pick one up at the Rhinebeck Wool and Sheep festival last year!
Interchangeable Knitting Needle Set(s)
While it seems like a high price point for needles, interchangeable needle sets become handy when knitters has multiple projects going on at the same time. Our favorite needle sets are from Addi, and you can choose from these three options in the shop:
- addiClick: Standard - $210
- addiClick: Standard Rocket [Squared] - $210
- addiClick: Shorties Rocket 2 [Squared] - $210
We particularly like the squared version if you have chronic pain and need an ergonomic option.
Our favorites gifts for $80 to $100-ish
Yarn swift and ball winder set
Any knitter or crafter will have stories from when they've struggled to wind up a skein of yarn, especially at the lighter weights. Getting a ball winder and yarn swift set would be a perfect gift set to elevate their craft room!
We love the Stanwood brand, which is a California-based company that manufacturers their own products. We've included a few different combinations below at various price points depending on how much space your gift recipient may have in their home.
-
Tabletop Amish Style Yarn Swift / Large Metal Ball Winder Combination - $139.95
-
Medium Umbrella Yarn Swift / Ball Winder YBW-M Combination - $109.95
-
Tabletop Amish Style Yarn Swift / Ball Winder YBW-A Combination - $99.95 (This is great for apartment dwellers because it can be easily stored in a corner when unused).
Project basket bags
Another great option are these beautiful project bags we have in the shop designed by Pearadise Island, an Ontario-based creator. We have a mini ($72) and large ($90) options in a variety of patterns, and all the bags are sturdy and use fully-lined canvas. We love them for our personal projects and may have already bought 1 for ourselves...
Finally, we'd like to include some of our favorite fiber, knitting, and fit books. These are an "affordable" luxury option, since these are all quite hefty. If you want to hear more about the books in detail, Aimee also highlights these in their Youtube holiday video guide here.
