GABA Oolong (Spring 2024)
GABA Oolong is a unique style of tea that has been fermented to naturally increase the GABA, or gamma-aminobutyric acid content of the leaf. GABA is a naturally occurring amino acid that helps with information processing, lower blood pressure, and reducing anxiety and insomnia. It can also help increase focus, which makes it perfect for relaxing and knitting at the same time.
The 2024 GABA offers a rich, and fruity broth. It has the distinct taste of a luscious autumn fruit pie due to its fermented sweetness and fruity profile.
BANG Tea's GABA Oolong tea is the result of a multi-year search to find an impressive representation of the style. Now in it’s sixth year of production (our third year offering it), Mrs. Qiu’s GABA tea has received recognition in competition and continues to be a delicious and unique style of oolong.
This GABA uses the 青心 (qingxin) cultivar, is grown on 阿里山 (Alishan Mountain), and is produced only once per year during Spring harvest. Features a juicy mouthfeel & relaxing finish.
This tea was produced in the spring period, but was tested in a lab to certify the GABA content in Taiwan. The GABA content for the 2024 harvest has achieved a concentration of 193mg/100g leaves. The leaves have undergone an extended 3-day anaerobic fermentation process and are finished with a 4-hour roast.
